Bangladeshi abducted along Naikhyangchari border


A Bangladeshi national was abducted allegedly by Myanmar Border Guard Police along Naikhyangchari border in Bandarban on Monday evening.

The victim Md Yusuf, 32, of Phultali village under Naikhyangchari upazila, is a farmer and Myanmar BGP abducted him while he was looking after his grazing cows, local people said.

Naikhyangchari upazila nirbahi officer Sadia Afrin Kochi told New Age that the abduction incident took place near pillar no 47 on the no-man’s land at Phultali-Jarulia villages.

She said that they were trying to rescue Yusuf and Border Guard Bangladesh was trying to ascertain whether the Myanmar BGP had taken him away.

The local union parishad chairman is also trying to find Yusuf’s whereabouts using his sources, she said.
