The Congress today organised a march in all districts of Rajasthan to mark its protest against the farms laws enacted by the Centre and the rising fuel prices. The Congress leaders were seen riding on tractors, camels and elephants besides participating in a “Paidal March” as party workers and protestors raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Kisan Mahapanchayats

The All India Kisan Sabha will hold several kisan mahapanchayats in Rajasthan next week under the leadership of farmer leaders, including Rakesh Tikait. The kisan mahapanchayats will be held in the state from February 22 to 26 and the first one will take place in Nohar in Hanumangarh district on February 22.

‘Kisan Mazdoor’ rally

In complete support of farmers, the agricultural labourers have decided to participate in ‘Kisan Mazdoor’ rally to be organised jointly by farm organisation BKU Ekta Ugrahan and labourer organisation Punjab Khet Mazdoor Union in Barnala on February 21, named as ‘Mahapanchayat’. The labourers in large numbers assembled at Lambi on Friday to prepare people for the rally.

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal to hold a meeting with farmer leaders tomorrow at the Vidhan Sabha. Farm laws and other issues related to the farmers to be taken up in the meeting

PM Modi has said that efforts should be made to produce agriculture items like edible oil and reduce their imports. “This can be done by guiding farmers,” he said, adding the money being spend on imports can go to the accounts of farmers.

Permission denied

Yavatmal district administration in Maharashtra has denied permission for farmer leader Rakesh Tikait’s ‘Maha Panchayat’ rally which was to take place today.

“If the government is not waking up then we can not do anything, but we are not going anywhere. Farmers have been indulging in the farming of loss for the last 70 years. If they have to sacrifice one more crop, they are ready. Even if they have to take the help of more workers to harvest crops, they will do it. They will keep crops at their home but agitation will not be weakened,” said Tikait.
