Former BEPZA executive chairman dies of COVID-19

Retired colonel Syed Shahabuddin Ahmed, former executive chairman of Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority, died of COVID-19 at Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka early Thursday at the age of 78.

He had been suffering from COVID-19, said a press release.  He was also the chairman of Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation, Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation, managing director of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation and chairman of ABN Group.

He was buried at Banani graveyard after Asr prayers on Thursday.
