‘Operation Sundarban’, a film produced by RAB Welfare Co-operative Society Limited, is set to hit the silver screen during the coming Eid-ul-Azha. Directed by ‘Dhaka Attack’ movie-famed director and producer Dipankar Dipon, the official website and teaser of the film were launched at a function on Tuesday at Army Golf Garden in the capital.


The film is based on the success story of the RAB’s drive to make the Sundarbans, the world’s largest mangrove forest and a UNESCO World Heritage site located in Bangladesh, free of pirates. After a series of operations conducted by RAB, all pirate groups active in the Sundarbans were surrendered and on November 1 in 2018, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina declared the Sundarbas pirate-free. The film also highlights the technical and operational abilities of the RAB. 


Attending the event as the chief guest, Dr Benazir Ahmed, Inspector General of Bangladesh Police, who is also the immediate past Director General of RAB, launched the website of the film and delivered his speech. Among others, the film’s director Dipankar Dipon, Director General RAB Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun and Additional Director General of RAB Colonel Tofail Mostafa Sarwar also delivered speeches at the programme. Director of RAB’s Legal and Media Wing, Lieutenant Colonel Ashiq Billah delivered welcome speech. 


In the presence of the film’s cast and crew and other stars of the country’s showbiz industry, two songs of ‘Operation Sundarban’ were performed live on the stage in the programme.


The major cast of ‘Operation Sundarban’ includes popular actors Riaz Ahmed, Siam Ahmed, Nusraat Faria, Raisul Islam Asad, Monir Khan Shimul, Shatabdi Wadud, Arman Parvez Murad, Raunak Hasan, Manas Bandopadhyay, Taskeen Rahman, Ziaul Roshan, Manoj Kumar, among others.


The film is implemented by Legal and Media Wing of RAB.
